In 1979, Paul began working with The Savings and Loan League of Connecticut (SLLCT), a banking trade group representing thrift institutions in Connecticut. The League offered medical, dental, life, disability, pension and other employee benefits such as Medical Spending Accounts and Section 125 Premium Contribution Accounts to member banks and their employees. In addition, the League offered customer mortgage life and disability insurance through a separate trust. . Paul’s duties included sales and plan administration for all of these programs.

In 1983, SLLCT merged with The New England League of Savings Institutions, Inc. (NELSI), a similar trade group with New England wide membership. Paul performed the same duties as well as administrator for the Master IRA/Keogh Retirement plans for the larger trade group. In 1986, Paul began working with League educational and training programs. He conducted seminars for bank personnel. These seminars dealt with banking issues including banking operations, state and federal laws and regulations and retail banking products. During this time, he also was guest lecturer at Boston College for consumer affairs classes dealing with insurance coverages and credit and debit card choices and usage.

In 1996, NELSI merged with the Massachusetts League of Co-Operative Banks to form the Community Bank League of New England (CBLNE), which in turn, merged with the Massachusetts Bankers Association in 2001. Paul acts as broker and consultant to the Association’s benefit plans and as both broker and consultant to a number of community banks in the property and liability and life and health risk management areas.
